Our Hero

Our esteemed institution proudly bears the name of Shaheed Major Ravi Inder Singh Sandhu, a brave son of Bathinda and a true hero of our nation. Major Sandhu’s life exemplifies the highest ideals of courage, unwavering dedication, and selfless sacrifice in the service of humanity.

Born and raised in Bathinda, Major Ravi Inder Singh Sandhu embarked on a path of honor and duty, joining the National Defence Academy (NDA) in 2003. He was commissioned into the distinguished Corps of Signals of the Indian Army in 2007. Throughout his career, he served with distinction, including challenging stints in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir, demonstrating his commitment to protecting our nation.

Major Sandhu’s spirit of service extended beyond national borders. He bravely volunteered for the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), dedicating himself to fostering peace and stability in a troubled region. It was during this noble mission, far from home, that he made the ultimate sacrifice, laying down his life in the line of duty.

For his exceptional bravery and profound sacrifice, Major Ravi Inder Singh Sandhu was posthumously awarded the prestigious Dag Hammarskjöld Medal by the United Nations, a testament to his global contribution to peace. His name is etched in the annals of valor, inspiring us all to live with purpose and integrity.
